Kev and I have talked about the name thing a couple of times, especially recently (with the blog post)
Dinner: grilled cheese sammiches made with extra sharp vermont cheddar, thin sliced granny smith apple, and bacon. And tuscan white bean soup. From…a mix. I can’t be gourmet all the time. Darned good, […]

amazing.
Second, OK, yes. The cheesecake did not turn out exactly as planned. But it’s delicious. It’s lighter than most cheesecakes, so […]
You wish you were Kevin right now. Because if you WERE Kevin, you’d be enjoying a big piece of this:
Blackberry-lemon swirl cheesecake. My own creation. So…it turned out not QUITE as set as I’d hoped…it still was yummy. mmmmm….
Knitta alert:
Socks for mom are almost done. The more astute of you […]
inexplicably turning into a malaysian blog
Published August 2nd, 2006 in food and photos. 9 CommentsExcept my food is not GROSS!
I’ve recently become fascinated with the idea of cooking more asian foods. Mostly because Kev and I spend a good deal of money having restaurants cook various and exotic dishes for us, and it would be easier to make them at home. Also, I feel a desperate need to […]
2am
Kev: *sigh* I can’t sleep!
ESC: mmzzzz…hmmm…turn on the tv…I don’t mind
Kev: meh
ESC: put it on CNN, that’ll put you to sleep
Kev: current events will just piss me off
ESC: hmmmzzzz…the weather channel?
Kev: that will just piss me off
ESC: mmmzzzz…hehehehe…
Kev: hehehehe
ESC: dammit, don’t make me laugh when I’m sleeping.
Kev: HAHAHAHAHAAA!!!
OK, maybe that was funnier at […]
It’s no secret that I spent June and most of this month a seething ball of stress. During that time, I would try to relax on the couch, and as I was relaxing, my insides felt like they were planning a revolt and were intending to jump out of my body.
And also, I could […]
I’ll say it again.
If they didn’t want you to cook and consume an entire package of bacon at once, they’d have made the package resealable.
Just kidding, we’re only cooking a few. But still…it’s a good point, right?
So have I spent my weekend feaverishly preparing for my committee meeting?
no.
Have I spent hours and hours in the lab trying desperately to get last minute data to present to them?
ummm…no.
OK, then. Have I spent the weekend painting the baseboards and quarter round so I can get the condo back in order?
hells no.
Have I […]
So he did!
Kev got a JOB! A REAL job. That pays DECENT money (but no overtime, bleah!)! And…oh my god…HEALTH INSURANCE (after a month)! And it’s only 5 MILES AWAY!
He was interviewed today, offered the job, and starts TOMORROW! He’s…I don’t know, building computers and LCD screens, or something. Whatever. […]
My kitchen is somewhat back together, and tonight I made a real meal for the first time in god-knows-when.
Grilled then roasted pork loin
Baked sweet potatos
Veggie salad
it was gooooooooooooood.

I finally talked to my brother, and if he can find the drawings he did of the tattoo design, getting my […]
The previously mentioned N was present at my shower last weekend, and gifted us (errr…me, as I’m the only one who will get use out of it) with a french coffee press and a pound of Starbucks coffee - Brazil Ipanema Bourbon. This is “a rare Brazilian coffee” that is described on the bag […]
slimey yet satisfying???
Published June 13th, 2006 in rants, food, conversations and on the teeveeee. 9 CommentsOne of the post-docs in the lab is from Korea, and I am continuously horrified at some of the stuff she has professed to enjoy eating.
I thought maybe I could gross even HER out today.
ESC: Hey, so I was watching this show called “no reservations with anthony bourdain,” where he’s this cynical, alcoholic chef who […]
Warning: a very much unlike me, non-evil, non-science, uncool, extreme girly post. Proceed with caution
What a lovely shower! My bridesmaids did such a great job - everything was perfect. Yummy food - more than I thought there would be…I kind of regret that mcD’s double cheese burger I snagged on the way, […]
I finished the link page. Including getting the bubble tooltips to finally work (mouse over a link there, you’ll see what I mean). That’s a week’s worth of work satisfactorily finished.
Kev returned the flooring we bought from Ikea (since we found the flooring we used cheaper and nicer somewhere else) and came home […]
what is your emergency, and would you like fries with that?
Published June 8th, 2006 in daily and food. 7 CommentsLast night, after not being able to leave the lab until after 9, I stopped at Wendy’s to pick up some very late dinner for Kev and me. While I was there, someone called the Wendy’s and told the manager that she was being abducted and was trapped in the trunk of her car. […]
We took a break to go eat at our favorite mexican restaurant. I got my favorite dish, and since I order it EVERY TIME and I’m OBSESSED WITH IT AND OH MY GOD I NEED TO EAT IT ALL THE TIME - burrito de carnitas. Because I’m so obsessed with it, Kev decided […]
chicken enchiladas - sort of homemade (god bless supermarket rotisserie chicken)
mexican rice - from a box
and most importantly…
margaritas. on the rocks.
ahhhhhhhhh….OK. I’m better now.
Simultaneously disappointed and resolved after my last yogurt experiement, I decided to try again. Last time, if you’ll recall, I tried to recreate Activia yogurt using Alton Brown’s standard homemade yogurt recipe. What I ended up with was tangy yogurt soup. Excellent in smoothies, but not so much for other yogurt applications.
I […]
And no, I don’t mean THAT kind of fun.
So I have been very much enjoying the new yogurt product known as Activia. But hooo boy, is it a little on a pricey side. Also, have you seen the sugar content? Something like 17g per cup. Yeouch.
Something must be done!
I know you […]
OK, so we couldn’t get out for Mexican food last night. We tried, I swear. But Kev had his mysterious “surprise” for me, and we had to be there by around 7:30 “to get a seat.” All the mexican restaurants had lines out the door, so they were out.
We ended up at a new place […]
One of the best reasons to make leg of lamb for dinner, is that a few days later, you can have LEFTOVER leg of lamb. mmmm…
and my favorite way to have leftover lamb is to make lamb spinach pita wraps.
take some pocketless pita bread and warm it in the microwave or oven
place on plate, and […]
This is a picture of my bedroom in a state it has not seen since before Kev moved in. Look how clean and organized it is.
*sniff* beautiful.
However, the bed placement is the same. The bed is a four poster canopy bed, sans canopy. And therein lies the problem. We can’t […]
I HAD a ranty evil post all in my head for tonight. Oooo…it’s a good one. One that might get me Dooced. But OHHH, i wanted to VENT earlier!
But now I’m home and comfortable. And it’s a friday night. Not a ranty time. I’ll save the Dooceable rant for another time.
Right now I’ll tell you […]
I headed down to the little-but-increasingly-growing snack stand/sub shop in the building next door this morning for some over-priced coffee. I could have gotten a 50 cent one from the machine, but this morning called for a big cup of their darkest roast.
They have big insulated pots of it - dark roast, lite roast, vanilla, […]
Nothing too exciting.
Actually, yesterday was fun, as it was an eat out extravaganza for me. Went out to lunch with my lab to a place called “saigon cafe.” Yummy pho, and BUBBLE TEA!!!!
Then Kev took me out for kabobs for dinner. mmmm…kabobs…
Then I treated him to ice cream - the place formerly […]
Bulgar wheat gives me gas.
Very very VERY bad gas.
ugh.
pity Kevin. and my labmates. But I’m blaming it on the sewage system, which has a tendencey to back up at the pump in the lab next to ours. At home I just blame it on Sadie.
things I’ve learned so far this weekend
Published March 18th, 2006 in daily, misc and food. 0 Comments1. never buy the pre-made roasted veggie and hummus wraps in the cafeteria EVER AGAIN. EVER.
2. Neither Kev nor I enjoy corned beef, really. We never have to make it again.
3. my 3 favorite words right now: Mmmmmint Mmmmmmocha FRAPACCINO!
4. my 3 LEAST favorite words right now: Limited Time […]
To ease everyone back from the previous scary science post, some pictures to share!
Kev got a new toy when he visited his mom a couple of weeks ago - an iced tea maker! Now we don’t have to constantly forget about the big pan of water boiling away on the stove. He looooooves […]
So I’ve failed to keep everyone up to date on how the diet is going.
miserable.
After that first initial burst of weight loss…the scale just sat there. Sometimes going up (eek!) then edging back down, but never going further down than that. After two weeks of no further loss, our instructor decided to move […]
Bubble tea! Bubble tea!
I know I’ve blogged about this before, but…
BUBBLE TEA!!!!
I don’t get it very often…bubble tea! The only place around here that I know has it is a little store at Gwinnet mall - which I don’t get to very often. But when I do…
BUBBLE TEA!!!!
Honeydew is my favorite. […]
BLATENTLY ripped off from The Sneeze.
Though I will NOT be eating pupae.
I was at my favorite indoor international farmer’s market yesterday, and in the hippie, all natural section (HA! this is a joke - MOST of that place is hippie all natural) and stumbled across a package called “Nature’s Burger.”
A burger! In a […]
I shop a lot at the Kroger by the Curves I go to. They’ve been doing some rennovation inside. I figured they were just spiffing up the bakery and deli areas.
Nope.
I saw the sign up today. Still covered by plastic.
“starbucks coffee”
bye bye, bank account.
Also, they’ve put in a Dellalo’s antipasti bar - […]
It IS crappy. Cold, with that misty rain…
Nothing like slurping down a big steaming bowl of Italian wedding soup* while watching the Olympics. Maybe we’ll put a log in the fireplace here in a bit.
Ahhhhhh….

Kev and ESC smooch
Kev: your breath smells like…basil?
ESC: should be mint.
Kev: more like basil.
ESC: it’s that mouthwash. it should be minty.
Kev: well, then it’s mint with something else.
ESC: ummmm…bacon?
Kev: that’s probably it.
And before you yell at me for going off the diet…
turkey bacon!
Please ignore dirty stovetop background. They didn’t even […]

Published February 16th, 2006 in daily, craftiness, food and photos. 0 CommentsI’m most of the way through the “phase I” week of my diet, and I’m happy to report I’m down 3 pounds!
Yeah yeah, I KNOW! MOST OF THAT IS WATER WEIGHT!
Shut up and let me enjoy it, OK? Plus I got to have steak and shrimp for dinner, and I’m just enjoying the […]
There. Now I’LL get crazy google hits, too.
I was doing SO WELL today! My half cup of oatmeal and two pieces of canadian bacon (ok…it’s HAM people…very thin, small, slices of HAM! stupid canadians), my lunch of turkey and swiss sandwich and also choked down some very tart raspberries. Afternoon snack […]
I am hungry.
So very, very hungry.
I’m considering licking the sides of that bottle of hot sauce over there.
Why am I so hungry?
I am on a diet. The first real diet I have been on in I can’t tell you HOW long. This diet is designed by Curves. I signed up for a […]
It happened again. I was in the bathroom, in one of the two stalls. The other stall was already occupied.
The occupant flushed the toilet, opened up the stall…and then…

Have you ever eaten anything SO GOOD, that when you finished it, you were sad, because it was all gone? And part of you wanted to throw it up, JUST so you could eat it ALL OVER AGAIN???
I just did. I mean, I didn’t throw up anything. But I had a meal […]
I need to stop watching food network. It’s almost midnight, and I’m CRAVING A HOTDOG!!!
