blogkeeping and spinning spinning spinning

first some housekeeping and helpful google fu for anyone who is looking: If suddenly, the Bad Behavior 2 plugin for wordpress starts making your comments hang up and publishing posts gives a 404 error, maybe check to see if there are any updates for your template. For some reason, K2 and BB2 decided they didn’t get along any more, so they broke up. I tried Spam Karma 2, but K2 wasn’t ready to love again, and there were still problems with comments. Updating to the latest nightly build of K2 (always a bit of a pain, sorry if things got a little wonky here yesterday) seemed to mend all wounds with BB2. I think. If anyone has problems commenting, let me know! aw crap. it started again. something is buggy, and I give up.

alright. Those that don’t knit, spin, or have an appreciation for either of those arts can probably stop reading now.

fleece navidad!

Hey! There was a party yesterday! Knitters and spinners converged on the house of blogless Jacquie, and on her two little dogs, many cats, and one parrot. It was the animal house! Except the cats were outside. There was soooo much food. I decided to experiment at a party that was not my own and make a acorn squash and bleu cheese galette, topped with carmalized onions. Being that there were only a few scraps left, I’d say it was a success. The only reason it probably wasn’t gone completely was the fact that there was OH MY GOD SO MUCH FOOD! Yet I have no pictures of the food. OH WELL! More »« Less

you’re fired

I was “fired” about 30 times this past weekend. Really, it wasn’t my fault.

Grace was running late to pick me up on Thursday, so we ended up at Jen’s a little later than intended. After a quick meet & greet with some llamas, goats, and sheep (a warm up, if you will) we were on our way. Soon we were winding our way through the back-country highways of north carolina, enjoying gorgeous autumn mountain views of such spectacular quality that I was literally dazzled to the point of which I forgot to take pictures. This is also a common theme for the weekend. We finally arrived in Asheville and tried to make sense of a small map and some confusing city streets. Eventually we found our way to the restaurant and the rest of our cozy little group where we enjoyed a very delicious dinner. Back at the hotel, we spent the rest of the evening enjoying wine and my homemade chocolate crack cookies.

YAAAAARRRRRN HARLOT!

OK, half the time my blog is still throwing errors. SORRY! Oh my god, I think it’s the flickr photo album plugin from tantannoodles. Anyone else use this? Are you having problems? I’m going to add back the rest of my plugins one by one and check for problems. The Flickr Post Bar plugin I just installed (because this post will have many pictures, so I need a plugin to SAVE MY SANITY!) seems to be working fine, so, LET’S CONTINUE, SHALL WE?

you spin me right round

Instead of our usual knit afternoon at The Knitch, a little group gathered at Jane’s house for a Sit & Spin. Everyone who could brought wheels and roving, and those of us that didn’t have a wheel I got to watch and try my hand at it. The party was hosted by Jane (below, far right), who has a lovely house and an even lovelier porch, perfect for spinning and confounding the neighbors.
