and not like I’M stranger to doing so (what, are you new here?), but it struck me as odd that I found myself having two very personal conversations, with two very different people, in very different professions, within about 15 minutes of each other.
The first was at my new doctor’s office. I’m now covered under Kev’s insurance, so I had to pick a new doctor. To make things easier, I picked the same small clinic he goes to. Today I planned on dropping off our new insurance information and maybe filling out some new patient paperwork. As I did so, the receptionists asked “would you like to see a doctor today?” “Uhhh, I really don’t NEED to…” “You might as well have your first patient visit while you’re here - have a seat, it won’t be long.”
Thank god I brought my knitting.
And that’s how I came to be discussing weight loss and thyroid maintenance with a very friendly Indian woman (ha! I got to see a doctor! Kev usually gets the PA). 15 minutes later, I stopped at our friendly neighborhood, chick-friendly, adult entertainment boutique (wink wink) and got into a discussion with the purveyor of erotic goods on duty about the pros and cons of various lubes. What was more of a utilitarian, every day lube, which was better for…more specialized activities, which was glycerin free, etc. This woman now knows way too much about my sex life. But boy, was she friendly and helpful.
And Kev now has a very fun weekend in store for him.
