When I was a little girl, my favorite color was purple. Other girls liked pink. And barbies. But I was not so much a fan of the Barbie - unless it was to crudely hand sew clothing for her using scraps of fabric my grandmother gave me. I liked purple. And unicorns. And pegasuses. Pegasi? And all things Lisa Frank (I had her bubble gum machine patterned bed set OH YES I DID!) Yeah, I was super cool as a kid. But then I outgrew all that. Right about the time my mom decided to surprise me by painting my room purple and stenciling unicorns, moons, and stars around the windows. Thanks mom! I got too cool (HA!) for purple and unicorns. Instead I was drawn to brown. And…more brown. And black. And dark greens. Pft. Teen angst, expressed in colorways. More »« Less
