I’ll be geek for christmas

I found next year’s christmas cards.  Lots of other cool stuff at this site, too.  Cool if you’re a geek like me!

    All right… answer me this, eh? Why is DNA not called DrNA, huh?

    the first letter denotes the sugar group of the molecule.

    RNA = ribonucleic acid

    DNA - deoxyribonucleic acid, because one of the -OH groups on the ribose sugar is gone, so it’s a deoxyribose sugar.

    ribose and deoxyribose are two different sugars.

    does that make sense?

    It makes sense, but in a different world with a different naming scheme, I’d be asking why DrNA is not DNA…

    Ooh, I’ve ordered stuff from Zazzle before–excellent quality, but kind of slow (it comes from the UK). Be sure you order in sufficient time to send out your New Year’s cards. ;)
