bag lady

Saturday we drove to scenic Gadsden Alabama (a good halfway point) to meet my in-laws for lunch.  After cramming our craws with seafood, we walked around a nearby mall and chatted and caught up.  It was a lovely afternoon, but we were pretty exhausted by the end of the day.

Today we decided to go see Dark Knight, and since I needed a bag, and Kev had never been there, we made the drive up to the Mall of Georgia: The Biggest Mall in Georgia.  It is indeed Big.  And Loaded with Many Stores. Wow.

On the drive up, I noticed I had a slight headache that I attributed to not drinking any coffeet that morning.  So before we hit the movie, I plunked down $5.50 for a mega huge Coke Zero, figuring that was enough caffeine to settle my brain.

Dark Knight was AWESOME.  Loved it.  Loved every minute of it.  Would pay to see it again.  go.  Go now.  Go see it.  You’ll love it.

Anyway, came out of the movie and realized, hey, my headache didn’t go away at all.  In fact, it’s worse.  Maybe I need food?  We bought a couple slices of sbarro and another drink to split - full on sugared dr pepper this time, get that sugar into the bloodstream QUICK.

And no…no that didn’t work at all.  BUT I needed a bag, so we split up and I walked around JCPennys and Macys and accessories boutiques thinking OH MY GOD, EVERYTHING IS UGLY THIS SEASON.  UGLY IS THE NEW PRETTY.  Seriously, shiny, bejeweled, be-logoed FUG.  FUG FUG FUG.  Nothing compared to the pretty things I had found on Etsy the previous night.   Why is it so difficult to find a tote that does NOT look like a shopping bag, a diaper bag, or a pool bag?  I JUST NEED A BIG, PRETTY TOTE!  why is this so difficult?

And then I found a kiosk of beauty.  A lone Korean woman and her sewing and embroidering machines, and her GIANT KIOSK OF HANDMADE GOODNESS.  Where I not only found the perfect tote, she EMBROIDERED it for me.  Yes, it’s very high school LLBean back pack, but I don’t care!  How sweet is my new tote?

I love it.  Yes yes, had I the time and inclination, I might have been able to sew something for myself similar.  But it wouldn’t have come out as nice, and I would have spent days on it, because I suck at sewing. And yes, I did knit a big bag last  year, but it’s not really right for my purposes - I’ll knit another one eventually, but make it much deeper.

I would like to buy a wristlet to keep my wallet and a few other things in, just to lighten my load.  Because even though I have the world’s most Awesome Purse, it does get a little heavy.  Unfortunately, she didn’t have any in her kiosk, so I’ll probably go back to etsy - I’m well under my $100 limit with this bag, so I think I can splurge on a wristlet.  I’ve got my eye on this one, this one, maybe this one, love this one, and also this one.  And I know I’m taking a risk posting them here, because I know some of you WILL SNIPE THEM AWAY FROM ME, but there are so many gorgeous bags on etsy that I am not at all worried about finding one I love.

After I picked up my bag with it’s snazzy embroidered initials, I really wanted to walk around some more - tons of good sales, and I can always use new work clothes, and I do want to buy a nice suit to wear in case I ever have to look more professional.  But along with a pounding headache, my stomach was turning flip flops, and I was having bouts of chilled sweats.  Time to go home.  Not even a stop at Bass Pro on the way home for Kev, poor guy.  He’ll have to pick out his birthday goodies next weekend (he’s got a few weeks to go before his birthday, he just thinks he should start the gift part EARLY).

Now I lie here on the couch, sporting a low grade fever.  The pain in my head is gone, thanks to some excedrin, but I can tell it’s still there, wanting to come back because my eyes feel weird.  It’s been a while since I’ve been sick, so it just figures NOW that I have a JOB something would sneak up on me.  I’m hoping I’ll feel better in the morning, though.  But for now, I will just whiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnne…I don’t feeeeeeeeeeeeel welllllllllllll, I need a REEEEFIIIILLLLL ON MY TEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAA!!!

Trust me, you do NOT want to be Kevin right now.  Poor thing.

WHERE IS MY REFILL????

since i see no mention of it in your post, i can only assume your headache has the same source as mine: a few dozen wee little duckies blasting their mind-trapping powers at me, taunting me to come use money i didn’t have to choose from amazing mystery bags of fibery goodness…

or something. but i resisted. i and a giant bottle of excedrin. ;]

Ooooooooooooooh - I love the bag!! And the wristlets!! Not to worry though, I haven’t carried a purse since 1989 so no worries about me swiping them off of Etsy from ya!

Probably too many of those “damn it’s early morning and I have to get up to go to work” days that is making you sick!

Yay on the bag! I’m stealing it from you next time I come see you. Hope you feel better today!

He’d never been to MOG? Okay, that’s sort of understandable since you have to be a ninja driver to avoid traffic around that place.

Wasn’t the Dark Knight incredible?!?!?! I was blown away. Heath Ledger (RIP) and Aaron Eckhardt were both amazing.

Headaches blow, hope it went away quickly!

I love how you do all my shopping for me. I will be stopping by the Mall of Ga next time I go to the ‘rents. I will also be getting bras and underwear, but you didn’t really need to know that did you?
