I had trouble sleeping last night, tossed and turned. And woke up early this morning to some yappy dog going off outside. GEEZ! Thought I heard my cell phone beep, got up, checked, nope. Settled back into bed. Just as I was drifting off, I heard Greenday (dooo you have the time, to listen to me whine…), I don’t think I touched the floor between the bedroom and living room to grab my phone. It was the staffing agency woman, calling to tell me that I was the top candidate for the job I interviewed for on Tuesday.
Sweet.
Adrenaline rushing, there was no way Kev or I were going back to bed, so we chatted about our excitement, our plans for having two REAL incomes, if only through the end of the year (it’s a contract position), and got ready for the day. I was headed up north of the city, to visit Tim and Nanette, of For Whatever Reason fame. They had been discussing the copious amount of cucumbers they had been harvesting and trying to find homes for on their podcast, so I CASUALLY mentioned how much I enjoy cucumbers, and BAM! Invitation to partake whenever I could. HA! ONCE I’M IN, I’M TOUGH TO GET RID OF, BITCHES! w00t!
aHEM!
anyway, I drove to their beautiful house, full of wonderful smells from the Big Green Egg stuffed with pork on their back porch - their neighborhood was doing Independence day celebrations that night, and they were co-hosting a party. Ohhhh, the smell of it! I was drooling the whole time. Anyway, I sat in their kitchen and chatted with them for awhile, about recipes, nerve damage, psycho hair stylists, you know, typical chatty stuff.
Doooo you have the time…to listen to me whine?…
EEEEK! STAFFING PERSON!
I GOT THE JOB!
I GOT THE JOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOB!
I start the 14th! Full time! OVER twice hourly what I’m making at crap retail! OMG! OMG! OMG!
*doing the new job dance….oh yeah, work it, work it…shake that booty…shake it shake it shake it like a polaroid picture!*
I’m not entirely sure my feet touched the floor again during my visit - I was FLOATING. Tim and Nan loaded me up with fresh veggies from their garden - cukes, squash, peppers, and mint.
Anyone have a favorite refrigerator pickle recipe?
On my way home, I stopped at our local produce stand to round out the produce.
We are going to eat VERY WELL this weekend. Mmmm! Everything on the grill!
And now I’m going to post pictures of more things that are making me happy.
I’m taking a short break from lace knitting to make a behbeh sweater for some coworkers of Kev’s who had a baby a couple months ago. It’s purple and teal, though the teal looks more green next to the purple. It’s a Seamless Baby Kimono (rav link), made out of Lamb’s Pride cotton fleece. I’m making it out of worsted to make it a bit bigger, because they probably won’t get much use out of it for a few more months. And behbehs have that annoying habit of GROWING all the time, you know?
Squee! Congratulations!
Congratulations.
I like the yarn smiley face.
YAY JOB!
WOO HOO! JOB! YAY! (Does that mean you can knit on Thursdays again?)
This place isn’t so evil… or scientific… in fact, I think this is false advertising. Dig the new pad though… and congrats on the yob… society is tired of pulling your weight.
Wow…Dave you popped back into blogland suddenly and without warning! I am totally discombobulated now - a blast from the past! how long will he stay? NO ONE KNOWS!
Hooray! Congrats on the new job! And the delicious produce!
Yay! Congrats!
You rock. You rock out.
Congratulations, yo.
Sweet! Hope the job is everything you want it to be! And you get to start on Bastille Day!
Congrats!
She really DID do the happy dance. I witnessed it first hand. = )
Yay on the new job!! Kick ass!!! You should have taken a picture of the happy dance. Or at least Sadie’s expression as you were doing the happy dance.
Yay for produce, too! I’m currently working my way through cucumbers and squashes. Tonight, I made Greek turkey burgers with a cucumber yogurt sauce. Really easy by just adding together finely chopped cucumber, onion, yogurt, feta cheese, salt, pepper, dill, lemon juice. Then, I made the turkey burgers with a little bit of the cucumber and onion, bread crumbs, whatever “greekish” spices you want. Good for you and yummy! Plus, using some of the refrigerated cucumbers.
Congratulations!
Hah. Great new banner ad!
Congrats! The vegetables look wonderful! Whens dinner?
WOOT!! I am so very extremely happy for you, ESC!!!
CONGRATS my girl!!
That is fantastic. You ROCK!! And you never know, I’ve known a lot of contract positions to turn into full time. Or, if they like you sometimes they just find a place for you.
yeeeehaw (since its Stampede week in Calgary I thought I would throw in some cowboy - no not a real cowboy - )
Ah ha! There it is! I knew I had missed something. Again - congrats and hurray for the booty dance!
OMG, an evil science job? Wohooo! Congrats!!
Oh, awesome, awesome, awesome. Liberation from retail slavery is why I went back to school. I hope you get a chance to tell one of your worst customers the hell OFF on your last day. Whoo!
Also, did you seriously give away custom-made crocks for your wedding, weirdo? Holy crap! That is so much awesomer that stupid dinky picture frames or lame printed pens.
oh we didn’t give those away! that was a gift from my mother - she ordered it from…hmmm…either a catalog or someone from the 3 rivers art festival, I’m sure.
our wedding favors were champagne glasses with charms on them. and ummm…small picture frames that we used as place markers.
crocks for everyone would have been a bit pricey - even for a small wedding like ours!
