anxiety, i haz it

Last thursday, phone call:

Staffing person: Hi, this is N!  I just wanted to let you know that company X really liked your resume, and they are scheduling people to come in for interviews on Friday and Monday.

Me: great!

SP: OK!  So let me get the times you are available, and I’ll call you back later today and let you know when your interview is.

Me: excellent!  *gives times available*

THE REST OF THURSDAY: SILENCE, I SEND HER AN EMAIL OH-SO CASUALLY ASKING “WHAT’S UP?”

Last friday, phone call

SP: OK, so it looks like the interviews will probably be Monday and Tuesday.  Are you availabe on Tuesday?

Me: yep, all day.

SP: OK great.  I should be getting confirmation of your interview time tomorrow, and I will give you a call and leave you my cell phone number, so you can call me with any questions.

Me: OK!

SATURDAY: NO CALL

SUNDAY: NO CALL

Monday morning, get voicemail:

SP: Hey, this is N.  Your interview will be on Tuesday at 2:30, so give me a call back so I can confirm you’ll be able to make it, give you directions, and such.

I call her.

SP: OK, it looks like your interview is going to be in the afternoon.

Me: OK.

SP: Yeah, probably between…3:30 and 5:30, is that going to work for you?

Me: Sure…?

SP: OK, I’ll go ahead and confirm that and give you a call back later today to let you know exactly when your interview will be.

Me: …OK, great.

time passes….more time…even more time…

I send email before I leave for work at 5:30 - would it be possible to please send me interview confirmation and directions via email, as I will not have access to my phone until after 10pm.

10pm: god.  fucking.  dammit.

NO EMAIL.  NO PHONE MESSAGE.  WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON HERE????  DO I HAVE AN INTERVIEW OR NOT?  SERIOUSLY, THIS IS REALLY REALLY REALLY PISSING ME OFF AND IF I DIDN’T NEED A JOB SO BADLY I WOULD DROP THIS SHIT!

*weep*

Breathe deeply… allow the red rage to dissipate from your eyes…

Now remind yourself why these people are working in staffing. Right. They couldn’t get another job.

If the position is anything like what you hinted at on Saturday, this bit of frustration will be worth it and this will all eventually be nothing more than an amusing anecdote you tell at parties for years and years. “Oh yeah… this one time I was trying to get this job and…”

Bah. You’ll be fine. You’re qualified (you are qualified, aren’t you?), you’re smart, and you’re personable. No worries. It’s in the bag. Just go in there exuding confidence and give them no reason to do anything BUT adore you.

    Good luck!

I am qualified. In fact, I am probably OVER qualified. They are getting A DEAL with me, really.

doesn’t stop me from being nervous. eek!

OK, back! it went well, I think! I HOPE! Now I must wait…

they are interviewing 6 or 7 people for 3 positions, so…50/50 shot at least!
