Ok, so I watched a really long preview for the movie on the website, and admit I probably need to see it before i comment on it. But I gathered that he is stating that science proves his religious beliefs without any science evident in the preview. And that his religious beliefs should be explored in science classes, and Darwin left out. I’m actually a bit surprised that he thinks that science is the enemy that is shunning progress, when the religious right had us in an almost McCarthyistic state for some time! And I thought he was a thinker…
Pity Ben Stein. He is suffering from the effects of a crumbling world view and his personal connections to those that espouse it. Truly, we all live with some kind of faith. His… just happens to be a couple of centuries out of date.
I thought Ben Stein was kinda funny on his “Win Ben Stein’s Money” program.
That was before I knew he was a total tool or something. Jeezopete.
Here’s a deconstruction of Stein’s interview on Hannity & Colmes. If the embed doesn’t work in this comment, just click the link after the embed code.

JR63 - ha! I think I love you. What always makes me ABSOLUTELY CRAZY is the ID folks always saying things like “science tries to disprove religion…etc etc” what? like there is some kind of SCIENTIFIC CONSPIRACY TO DISPROVE GOD. Oh yes, we have secret meetings and EVERYTHING! “How can we ruin the christian’s day TODAY???”
though, I must say: as a christian myself (that’s right, I am a christian AND a scientist…but not a christian scientist. those people are just creepy) I can assure everyone that not all scientists hate god, and not all christians hate science.
It is just a very vocal, assholey minority of both that get the headlines. sheesh!
ESC,
Glad you like my video. The utter inanity of the Stein interview actually pushed me over the edge. Before, I would just casually read articles on the web and watch YT videos; now I’m getting involved. Planning on making more videos, etc.
Keep up the good work on your blog; love your dog!
I was so disappoinged in Ben Stein when I found out he was doing this movie. It’s one thing to open discourse, it’s another to manipulate facts and situations to try and prove something that you believe to be a forgone conclusion. Intelligent Design is a pipe dream and not even science. To make it look like people are getting persecuted for being a proponent when it’s blatently false is unconscienable and does nothing to promote that belief.
