mission improbable

So you knitters out there have probably heard about Jen and Claudia’s slick new knitter torture knit-a-long for the year - MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 2008 (ravelry group here).

And I went back and forth on this. First, my stash really isn’t all that big. Half of it has been accumulated in the last year alone, and the “oldest” stash I have is probably only 3 years old. But I do have some unfinished projects that I might need some prodding to finish, and some things I’ve been saying I want to do forever now, but just haven’t, for one reason or another. But I knit SO SLOWLY! Because I am SO LAZY! But I really need to get on the ball here. So it with THAT spirit that I toss my hat in to the mess and say COUNT ME IN! Here is my list of 12 knitting goals for the year:

1. finish kew socks

sadie's nosewarmerJen said it was a cursed pattern. let’s hope I can pick them back up again and prove her wrong.

2. finish cake bag (I love this yarn. I hate knitting with it)

3. knit a damn sweater already - if able to procure more andean silk, use the hollyberry.

if not, use the scratchier ebay stuff and…

ebay yarn
4. make a warm, cozy wrap with the andean silk hollyberry I already own (12 balls!)

5. use those 3 colors of cotton fleece I’ve had FOREVER to make my friend’s little boy a sweater

6. i am not sure if this counts, but GET OVER MY PARANOIA AND JUST DYE SOME DAMN YARN ALREADY! SHEESH!!!!

7. my old stash is not as extensive as many of you, so I move to NEW stash and will KNIT SOME MONKEYS, as I am the last knitter on earth who has not done so.

8. finish the fair isle stocking cap

9. everyone I know is getting peaches n cream washcloths for their birthday this year

10. find something to do with that recycled sari silk yarn, or just sell the damn thing already

11. knit Kev the pair of slippers I’ve been promising him forever, using the tweedy purply cascade 220
12. the last colorway of interlacements tiny toes must become socks or gloves. (not the monkeys, I have another yarn slated for those). pattern to be determined.

SO LET’S START THIS OFF ON A POSITIVE NOTE!

An FO sort of for today: my strangling vine lace scarf is done!

I started it OH so long ago, and then put it away for months. I finished it while in pittsburgh.

You make this sickness look almost appealing, but I will not be sucked into Jen’s evil plan.

Although I do want to dye something. But I have no outdoor space in which to do it. *sigh*

The scarf, it is very very pretty. Finished pictures?

It’s mission POSSIBLE. And the dyeing counts. Successful Kew socks might count as 2 or 3. Welcome aboard. I’ve set myself up to do so much with this that I may be doing ONLY this all year. Alack.

Julie - You can dye indoors. Just make sure everything is very clean afterwards. And use pots or jars that will never be used for food. I’ll have someone take pictures of me wearing it on Sunday :)
Jen - right. well, I look at that list and think…impossible!!! do you see I have a SWEATER on that list??? Riiiiight. I’ll be lucky to get to knit anything from SAFF this year! waaaaaah!

Wanna get Peaches N Cream by the 1 lb cone in cooler colors than Hel*Mouth sells? Email me.

I already have too much! Must get rid of it! Hence, the washcloth marathon planning.

Eh……….no you aren’t. MONKEY has been on my “to do” list since it came out. I just started a new pair and was planning to do the Monkey pattern but I think the yarn is too dark (AWESOME deep blue color) for the pattern to show up so off Monkey goes to the back burner again!!

I am tempted to join, but as my track record shows that every KAL I have joined caused me to promptly quit whatever I was knitting made me decide against it. Instead, I will see the wisdom in trying to accomplish finishing up some UFOs around the house and see how it goes.

I can one-up you and Brittany both. Monkey isn’t even ON MY LIST! Na NA! :)

What did you do to your poor dog? She’s got this look on her face that is pure torture. Way too funny.

Love the banner with Sadie’s eyes.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! You fell for it too! That Jen sucks you in and then body slams you to the floor. DAMN, DAMN, DAMN! Another one bites the dust.

    You can do it.
