So pardon the previous post, which may have come as a bit of a shock to all those innocent knitters referred here from Yarn Harlot or JenLa or whoever, and were probably expecting a blog about knitting and maybe kitties.
Ha! No. THIS IS A BLOG ON THE EDGE, BABY! YOU’LL NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU’LL FIND!!!
And so…uhhh…having said that…
Some knitting content.
Shut up.
During the Harlot’s visit, I finally managed to finish the lacy socks for my mom’s birthday. A month late. Again, shut up.
“Waving Lace” socks from Favorite Socks, done with Brown Sheep’s Cotton Fine. Modified, and if you care how, you can go to my ravelry project notebook. If you don’t belong to ravelry…then you probably don’t care how I modified the socks. Just enjoy how pretty they are…oooo…and soft….
As I plan on going to SAFF in October (got my confirmation email for the yarn and wool dying class), I am on a somewhat strict yarn diet (more below). So it’s been knitting from the stash time. I have some sock yarn I’ve been referring to the CURSED COLORWAY because even thought the colors are gorgeous and the yarn is nice, it has resisted efforts to knit into socks containing any pattern whatsoever. So FINE THEN! YOU WILL BE SOCKS BUT YOU WILL BE PLAIN ORDINARY SOCKS!
wow, that is a craptastic picture. The colors are better - reds and purples. I’ll post a better picture when I finish the first sock.
And I’ve also decided to throw myself into a new and very challenging project, incorporating a technique I’ve never done before BECAUSE I FELT LIKE IT! But also, could you look at this and NOT want it? Crave it? Need it? It would have stayed in my “to knit on day” list for a lot longer if the Chicken Goddess herself hadn’t piped up at the Knitch one sunday and say “oh, I did that! You want me to give you all my leftover yarn and lend you the pattern?”
uhhh…yeah!
I only had to order 4 skeins of yarn (this doesn’t count - I got most of the yarn for free. I get a pass on this purchase), instead of…a lot more. I’m still waiting for them to come, but in the mean time…
wow, it is slow going. And this is my second attempt, as my first attempt ended when I realized I had twisted the round (mobius hat, anyone?). And if I can stop trying to knit with my yarn tails, I might actually make progress on it.
My third project is still in planning stage - I want to knit a bag for SAFF, because all the cool kids are doing it, and I am not talented enough to spin and knit a sweater. I have the yarn for a felted bag…mostly. But what I’D REALLY like to do is intarsia an evil chick into it. Someone has graciously agree to donate some red and black yarn, but I still need something for the face and goggles. So…*ahem* any knitters out there have feltable yarn in a very light blue and or a white/beige color? I wouldn’t need very much. Just scraps.
/end begging
4th and final project, still in envisioning phase: lube cozy
I probably have some light blue and maybe some beige, but I won’t be seeing you for a couple of weeks. If you still need it then, let me know and I’ll bring it.
Looookeeng Gooood!
Althought you’ve broken my brain with the lube cozy, I must admit.
Knitting and sex, Whooo! Some science in the future, perhaps? It would be like, an ESC trifecta…
You know, every time you start talking about a felted project I get the urge again to check into felting soap? Yes, it’s doable, but I haven’t had the time to play with it.
Maybe once the Seven Plagues of Wausau are done with us I’ll be able to.
wow. I had not even heard about felted soap before! Neato!
Also, what about my dog soap idea? Stick with me, babe. I got a million ideas and not enough time or talent to do them myself
Wow- the color work on that hat is crazy! Love the socks too!
