Yeah, I know many of my old-skool readers are sick of my knitting content. But the only other stuff I can think of to post is stuff like
Duuuuhhhh…Dr Phil is the biggest flake in the WORLD, did you ACTUALLY THINK, Spears family, that he was going to keep his mouth shut afterwards? Do you think he tried to speak to BritShitFit out of the goodness of his HEART??? HELLS NO! HE DID IT FOR THE RATINGS! How stupid are you???
So not the most riveting of stuff.
Thursday night I went to Knitch to sit and knit amongst my people for the first time in weeks. It was very soothing. Olivia was there, reflecting on a very important lesson learned: boys have big feet and require more yarn than girl feet for socks. If you’re going to knit boy socks, buy more yarn. Especially if said yarn is only available at a festival. She comforted herself with retail therapy.
There there…everything will be OK. Pet your new cashmere…it’ll be alright…
Fortunately, that story has a happy ending, as Brooks Farms still had a skein in stock and is sending it her way. But remember boys and girls! If you’re unsure if you have enough yarn divide it up ahead of time, and go toe up!
I showed off my newly blocked scarf:
Highlights my boobs nicely, no?
I made progress on the kew socks. A little progress, anyway.
Annnnnd a final FO to show off!
I call them “fetching with fingers” as they are indeed the fingerless glove pattern fetching…to which I’ve added fingers. I’M SO CLEVER! Also, I seem to be incapable of knitting a pattern labeled “easy!” and “fun!” and “quick!” without thinking “how can I make this more difficult and frustrating for myself all while making it take 10 times longer than it should???” I used Melissa’s sickeningly awesome handspun yarn of indeterminate fiber content (corriedale?). Whatever it was, it softened up considerably after a nice long soak in Soak. Now if it would only get cold enough here to wear them…
Nice gloves (and boobies)!!!!
Your boobs look really nice in that scarf.
I love the fetching with fingers glove! And I think it is an inherent trait of most knitters to take a simple pattern and make it hard. We like a challenge. At least, that’s what I tell myself.
Really, did you just ask “how stupid are you” of the Spears family? Dude–their eldest is a freakshow, and their SIXTEEN YEAR OLD is pregnant! They’re stupid. And what’s worse, they’re stupid people with MONEY!
The scarf is indeed beautiful. And the gloves… I heart the gloves! Did you write out the finger patterns as you knit them up? And if so, would you share? I like my fetching fingerless gloves, but it’s often too cold here and I need something which will keep me warmer.
I’m going to have to try that scarf pattern–I have some yarn that’s begging to be either a shawl or shoulder throw so I could expand that pattern to do that.
I didn’t write the pattern down as I did the fingers - what I did was peruse a couple of glove patterns, got the gist of how to knit fingers, and then made it up as I went along.
To mis-quote Bridget Jones’s Diary: “Like your tits in that scarf.”
