By now, you are so sick of reheated turkey and stuffing that you’re probably thinking “tonight! we go out! for Italian!”
I know I’m hoping to go out for Italian. Otherwise, you’re trying to think of ways to make thanksgiving leftovers look like something else entirely. Because that fridge full of food is not going to eat itself.
cranberry smoothies - use up that leftover cranberry sauce (caution: I haven’t actually tried this)
turkey devonshire - open faced turkey sandwich, topped with bacon and cheese sauce, bake until bubbly. ignore that message from your cardiologist
everything all at once pie - chop up the turky and mix with stuffing, green beans, other veggies and gravy. Pour into a casserole dish. mix leftover mashed potatoes (HAHAHAHAHA! WHO HAS THIS???) with some milk or cream and whatever shredded cheese you have in the fridge. smooth over turkey mix. bake until golden brown
what are some of your favorite post-thanksgiving recipes?
I never get tired of stuffing and mashed taters, but those can be a meal unto themselves. And then mayo makes even turkey leftovers palatable once your tired of it on it’s own.
And what about turkey tetrazini(sp)?
I say pitch the leftover corn and green beans, though… Unless the dog is stupid enough to… what am I saying, feed it to the dog!
every year i make a huge pot of turkey frame soup on sunday - make turkey stock with the bones & some veggies, then use the stock and turkey leftovers to make a hearty turkey vegetable soup with some rice or pasta thrown in. the leftovers of the soup can be frozen (since there’s no dairy) for lunches for the rest of the winter.
and we’re totally going out for mexican tonight. =]
You better be going to Provino’s or Scalini’s for that Italian food!!!
If you smother your turkey in mayonnaise BEFORE you cook it, you will not have leftovers that last more than one meal..I guarantee it! The first year I did this, I had absolutely no turkey leftovers…amazing!
Turkey gumbo, baby! It’s all about the gumbo.
Turkey fajitas. chop/shred turkey, add salsa and cheese. put on fajita. add peppers and stuff if you want. heat and eat. yum.
