Friday, well, starting Thursday night: Kev and I (mostly Kev) got the shelves installed in our useless extra minicloset, so I spent Friday loading the shelves up with our towels and sheets, which had spent all their time shoved into where ever I could find room, and my shooooes.
allll nice and organized. So then, well, since I had to take clothes out of the useless minicloset before we put in shelves, I had to find room for them in our regular closet. Which I had a plan for, which is why the shoes moved into the smaller closet. And since I already had an organizing, cleaning zen mood going, I ended up spending the whole day cleaning the bedroom. Which, unlike the rest of the condo, hadn’t been really cleaned in years, thanks to the handy “door” that can simply be “closed” when company comes. I spent Friday cleaning, revealing dirty clothes that hadn’t seen the light of day in who knows how long, and parts of floor we didn’t know we had. The transformation is amazing. But I don’t have a picture, because right now, the clean floor is home to piles of organized laundry sorted by color and delicate vs. not. Today is marathon laundry day.
Later that night, I had to scramble to finish the birthday gift I was knitting for my friend Elizabeth’s little girl, who was turning 1 on Saturday. I would have finished before then, but in my mania, decided that the top I was knitting wasn’t “girly” enough, so I decided to add a lace border at the bottom at the last minute. HAHAHAHA! IT WON’T TAKE LONG! NOT LONG AT ALL! HAHAHAHAHA!
Finished at 4am.

The birthday party was at 11am the next day, in the burbs north of the city. GUESS HOW EXCITED I WAS TO WAKE UP EARLY???
But it was my fault I was up so late, so I got up, made myself pretty and got to the party on time. It was fun, actually. Lots of little kids running around, which twinged my uterus a bit until they started fighting and crying. ha! OK now! go back to mommy! The gift was received by the proud mommy, as the birthday girl was a little pooped out by the end. I’m sure she’ll enjoy it. This is the same little girl I knitted the pinwheel blanket for, and now it’s become her favorite blanket. HER FAVORITE! As much as a favorite as a baby can express, I guess. But still, this girl is going to be a knitter! If we’re still in the same city in 4 years, her 5th birthday present is going to be a set of knitting needles and some wool.
Er, anyway, on my way back from the party I picked up the Harry Potter book. Yeeee! Didn’t even change clothes. Just plopped myself down on my couch and started reading. Only came up for air to take bathroom breaks and remind myself that this was a book, that voldemort wasn’t real, and those weren’t my loved ones…uhhh…no spoilers. I tend to reeeeeally get into books. Halfway through, I had to take a break. For my blood pressure’s sake. Which is funny, since my break was dinner out with Kev for some BBQ. Nothing better for your bloodpressure than BBQ pork and french fries. When we got home, I couldn’t help it any more. I needed sleep - I had been up too late and up too early. I passed out on the couch for a couple hours, woke up around 10pm, and resumed reading.
I finished at 3:30, but stayed up another hour to reread the last 8 or 9 chapters. And then I crashed.
Anyone who was expecting me at the Knitch on Sunday afternoon, I give my sincere apologies. But I wasn’t going ANYWHERE on Sunday. I didn’t even change out of my pjs. I slept in, got up, ate, slept on the couch, got up ate, and…did not much.
Today I am left with a mountain of laundry…and…The Halfblood Prince. I realized as I read The Deathly Hallows that there were some details I had forgotten. I should have reread it before I bought the last book, but I didn’t. So, back into the Wizarding world for a bit, to clean up my memory a bit.
I know that many of you out there are sick to death of Harry Potter. You have no idea what the fascination is. You think Rowling is a sell out. Whatever. I don’t care. I have to deal with the hype of the shit you think is so great: iphones, transformers, whatever. So keep your negativity OUT of my comments and on your own blog where they belong. Mkay?
They refer back to the 5th book a LOT, and I felt like I should have re-read at least the 5th and 6th books before I read the 7th. I very nearly put it down to do so but NO WAY COULD I! And I lived Harry Potter(with occasional naps and only one actual meal break where I stopped reading while I ate!
Anyhow, I’m starting over again at the first book tonight. I can’t let it go that easy!
I had a refresher on the 5th book last weekend when I saw the movie, so I was OK there.
We were up north for the week and had a weird day trying to buy the book and go to the movie, which ended up going to a casino instead of the movie and there was an outdoor KISS concert with fans all over this tiny upper Michigan town. All in all a very weird day. I finished the book and left my copy up north for my dad to read and now have to wait for Jim to finish reading so I can reread the last couple of chapters because there were two things I couldn’t figure out and its driving me nuts that I can’t ask him about them yet.
That tank came out SO. CUTE. And the lace border finishes it perfectly. If it was me, I’d have considered it worth the lack of sleep. I still think the color is wonderful and I’d like to say it’s exactly what I’d have chosen, but I’d be deluding myself. I never choose that well. Missed you at Knitch, but hey, we all have other stuff to do sometimes. Next weekend?
I spent a good portion of my weekend devouring HP. I think I’m going to reread Deathly Hallows at a slower pace. I’m sure I missed a lot of stuff in my race to the end.
How is JK Rowling a sell-out? She went from Ms. Nobody Brit to Ruler of the World. I want to be that kind of sell-out.
That’s a nice organized closet you got there.
I can’t wait to go back and re-read. One more week. One more week.
She now sleeps with the halter top too…something about your fabrics. Michael said it’s just as well since she won’t be allowed to wear halter tops until she’s 20. hehe.
HA! I want pictures.
