yesterday, Kev and I went to see “300,” which had finally arrived in the cheapie $1 theater. I can’t remember what kind of reviews it got, but we both came away very satisfied with the movie. Kev with the massive bloody battles and gratuitous boobie shots, and me with the constant display of bulging well oiled greek muscles. Mmmmm…
I marveled, though, at what must have been a serious expensive for the production of the move. The amount of iced needed to keep every woman in the movie’s nipples at PEAK PERFORMANCE, so to speak. Good lord. Spartan women could have waged battle with their impressive protuberances alone.
The big moment of hilarity came when King Leonidas (played by a guy who looked like george clooney, only incredibly ripped and younger looking) met Xerxes for the first time. Xerxes, dripping in gold chains and piercings like some kind of goth drag queen, approaches Leonidas from behind and puts his hand on his shoulder.
“There is only one thing I desire from you”
And I leaned over to Kev and whispered “buttsecks?”
BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!
Oh My GAWD, it does look like he’s telling him to ‘pick up the soap…’
But, the younger george clooney is also the Phantom of the Opera! Gerard Butler. And the only reason I will RENT the movie when it comes up on my netflix queue.
300 is really quite a beautiful movie. I enjoyed it immensely. However, the stylistic portrayal of the Persian Empire, especially Xerxes, is quite laughable.
Do you want to know what the big, exotic thing for the Greeks about the Persians?
The Persians wore pants.
That’s right, the Greeks were alienated by invaders in pants. I find that rather hilarious.
Did that movie have any real stuff in it? The trailer made it look as though it was all CGI, like ToyStory only with muscles and sweat.
i read it first time as Geek Love.
one little “r” makes a whole difference, huh?
*tries not to make joke about r’s*
Still haven’t seen it but I will.
Wii! Hooray! We had been toying with the idea since we played one at a friend’s house and then we picked one up on Saturday. Our local EB Games had it while Best Buy was out.
So do you like the games on Wii Play? We’ll probably pick that up at some point since it’s a decent deal. We rented Rayman Raving Rabbids and it has some fun games but probably wouldn’t buy it. And no home internet connection yet so we can’t be wii buddies just yet.
we haven’t set ours up on the internet, yet, but we will.
the only two games we have are the wii sports it came with, and the wii play, which came with the extra controller.
I am a little embarassed to say that Tennis is our favorite game so far…but we can’t actually play it right now because we are both suffering from WII RELATED INJURIES!
Kev’s elbow and my shoulder are ACHING from playing so much. Pathetic, no?
so that’s one vote for and one vote against the raving rabbits game. Hmmmm…
I’d like to find out if the Paper Mario is worth it. Duh, RENTING the games never crossed my mind! will have to try that out!
LMAO!!! I haven’t seen 300 yet, but will have to now - I’ll wait for a weekend when Red and Matt are here for lunch *grin*
Lol @ Wii shoulder! I remember the pain so well bit it does give over once your muscles get used to it.
We bought wario smooth moves which is ok but gets a bit repetitive after a while cos the games are so short. We also have Zelda and need for speed which once you get over the fact that you can’t read any of the instructions on the screen plays really well.
Hmmm…. I may have to see this eventually!!
When I saw it, there was a scene where Leonidas faced his buff Spartans, all wearing nothing but gladiator gear and loincloths, and shouted something like, “We are ready to face the Persians! We are ready for justice! We are ready for victory!”
I said, “‘We’re ready for a gig at Chippendales!’”
Normally I don’t make outbursts in the the theatre, but everyone laughed at that.
You know how they separate the men from the boys in Greece, don’t you? With a crowbar.
HA. Love that joke. The last Greek I told it to? Not so much…
I’m getting married Saturday! I was supposed to keep up the wedding blog but life got quite a bit ahead of me =)
Just wanted to say I still read and OH MY GOD I’m getting married on Saturday =)
Warning - Paper Mario is a platform game. If you are not into games that require you to do battle in an arena setting every few minutes(and I use the term battle loosely, you just kind of..bonk..goombas and whatnot), to build up hit points, and for what I don’t know because I was bored to tears after 20 minutes.
Any of the Zelda games (apart from the platform/final fantasy type) are way fun, even the original is much more fun than alot of the crap RPG put out now.
I wonder if that’s in the outtakes?
