pigs don’t sweat

Have I mentioned that my mother is coming to visit in a couple weeks? Yes?

no?

OK, by the way, my mom is coming to visit the first week in June. Which has thrown me into panic cleaning mode above and beyond what my normal cleaning-because-my-mom-is-visiting mode, because the condo is above and beyond any normal disorganization and mess.

situation critical.

So if my blogging has been “light” or “boring” lately, it’s because there is only so many ways I can say “today I stayed home and cleaned.” When the highlight of your day is a trip to Target for bathroom cleaner (OMG! ON SALE! AND LEMON SCENTED! SCORE!), it’s time to step away from the laptop for a bit.

It’s going well, though, thanks for asking :)

Anyway some possibly blog-worthy things happened yesterday. More cleaning, of course, but then I finally bugged Kev enough to get him out the door. See, his mom gave us a VERY generous gift of some “mad” money last week. And instead of blowing it on something lame, like bills, Kev had the GREAT idea that if we pooled our money, and combined it with some best buy gift cards he has laying around somewhere, we could probably afford…

a Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!

So I’ve been bouncing around all week. Kev gets home from work: “Wii? Time for Wii?” Kev’s trying to go to bed: “Wiiiii! Where is my Wii???” Apparently, I can be “annoying.” Pft. I am PERSISTENT! So saturday, when it was apparent no more cleaning would be done, I made some calls to best buys in the area, and I find one ONE that has them in stock. Three in stock, actually. Score! I check out the directions online…ok…it’s in buckhead, sooo…take lavista to lindberg…go north on piedmont. Got it! Then Kev mentions that he wants to pick up some oil filters at the Toyota dealership. Where is the dealership? Peachtree industrial. No where NEAR where we were going. But whatever. I checked the map again…OK, we can come down 85 to buckhead….and piedmont road is there, we should be able to get to best buy. It’s a big blue store, how can you miss it? I write down the phone number, just in case.

So to Toyota, and then down 85 to buckhead, to piedmont road and….where is it? Maybe I turned the wrong way. Nope. Not here. This is buckhead! We’re on piedmont! How are we missing this? Kev is getting pissed. Great. I call the number and get the address number. It’s nowhere near where we are. In fact, I’m pretty sure that it’s name “the Buckhead best buy” has to be a technicality. This is not buckhead. Buckhead is where the trendy stores and restaurants are. Best buy is…in the ghetto, apparently. I did not know there was a ghetto part of Buckhead. And not only that, it’s not even really on Piedmont road. It’s way off the road. In a shopping center with no sign, and totally hidden behind a home depot. We are both grumpy and sleepy and hungry and other dwarf-like names when we pull into the parking lot.

Awesome. It’s now about an hour and a half since I had called the store to inquire about the Wii. Which they had 3 of. In stock. Right?

Guess what they’re sold out of.

Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!!!

They sold all three in an hour. Sons of BITCHES.

So no Wii for us. I’ll try again some time this week. Must beat the punk ass kids. Beat their STUPID ASSES FOR THE Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!!!

I’ve been cleaning my apartment with a tooth brush and a fine tooth comb lately. I spent 90 minutes on the MICROWAVE ALONE. And the kitchen floor has been scrubbed, by hand, four times.

No one’s visiting, but the “dirty” roommates moved out so I can reclaim my clean apartment again. NO MORE TOOTHPASTE ON THE BATHROOM MIRROR. Huzzah!

    Also, Wii’s are fun.

Ha, same reason my blog is growing spiderwebs. Not much to say when the highlight of my day is that I managed to install windows on a mac. I need to get me a Wii!

Oh, btw, you can drive Kev nuts with this:

If pigs don’t sweat, where do all the toxins go? It’s probably because they eat dairy. :)

I want a Wiiiiii. Then I won’t have to go outside to exercise. I can just exercise in my livingroom. While playing Zelda. Yeah.

How much do they cost, anyway?

I love Wii! I have one and I play it and YES! YOU NEED A WII!

And here’s where you can buy one RIGHT the Hell NOW:

Derek - according to the site, the only stores that have them in stock are selling huge mega bundles. We don’t need 5 games and 4 controllers. Because we don’t have $600 to spend. Booooo! But I will keep an eye on the site. and keep up with my telephone harassment of local electronics stores.

Julie - the base unit is $250, which only includes 1 controller. There’s an extra controller 9 sports games in one pack for $50. So for $300, you’re ready to party.

Aimee - you need to watch more tv, hippie!

So uber-jealous you’re getting a Wii, but we’re planning on getting one after we move and assuming wii can find one in the store. Good luck on your Wii-Hunt!

So basically you blew us off for a Wii you didn’t get?

“There’s only so many ways I can ‘Today I stayed home and cleaned.’”

    Au francais:
Aujourd’hui je suis resté à la maison et nettoyé.

    En español:
Hoy me quedaba en la casa y limpié.

Okay, translating it ain’t much either, but at least it’s not “wiiiiiii” over and over…

    WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!

  15. 15 cybele

You go “wah” over no gots Wiii?

Don’t ‘get’ Wiiii, or other vidgames. Why not play realgames? With realpeoples?

    Sorry you sobby.

    cybele, are you drunk?

If you ever want to do anything productive in the near future like writing or cleaning or even blogging then DON’T buy the Wii!
You will not be able to leave it alone I know we didn’t for the first few months we had ours. The novelty does ease off after a while though and you can then reduce your playing hours to under 5 a day.
Watch out when you do get it though an start on Wii sports, by day 2 your arms will ache so badly.

I think Cybele wins the comments contest on this round. That was just hilarious!

(And for the record, I DO watch TV, I just TiVo all my shows so I can skip the commercials. Does that make me a yuppie instead of a hippie, or just a snob?) ;)
