a week gone, just like that

First, some blogging business to take care of:

The “twitthis” button has been removed until they learn to do it WITHOUT using javascript hosted by amazon S3 and causing random horrendous page loading times. If you would like to twitter one of my blog post, you’re just going to have to do it MANUALLY from now on.

Your disappointment. It is palpable.

**ETA***

So there was a problem with people trying to comment? I have no idea what caused that. But for anyone desperately google searching for a fix to this problem: if clicking on “comments” gives you a not found, 404 error, then go to your Options, click Permalinks, and then click the button “update permalink structure.” I think you have to do this every so often, but I have no idea why. Probably to prevent that shit from happening. what the hell, wordpress???

**end edit***

And yeah, I know I’ve been slacking on the blogging lately. But I’ve been both simultaneously busy AND boring, so not much blogging fodder. I have been listening to this when I’m driving around…which leads to me trying to…CONTAIN…RANT…OF…RAGE…because the old lady in the car next to me doesn’t care and also looked a little scared of me. Must remember that “real world” does not equal “ESC’s blog world”. Rants are only appropriate in context.

So, onto more reasons my life has been too boring to blog:

My knitting mojo. I haz losted it.

Seriously. When I’m home and I try to knit…eh…I can’t do it. I can’t work on my sweater. I can only seem to work on the kiri shawl when I surrounded by other chatty knitters. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME??? Maybe I need something simple and mindless to knit. Socks!

negative knitting

That’s some of my hand dyed from last saturday. Doesn’t it knit up pretty?

Yeah….

what you see in that picture is NEGATIVE progress, because I realized while knitting with friends last night that I had entirely too many stitches on my needle, and that the socks were going to be HUGE. Ugh. Rip rip rip…

This is where I break in and point out YET ANOTHER POSITIVE FEATURE of the “toe-up” sock, in that you only have to rip back to a point if you’ve got too many or too few stitches! Just to the toe! With cuff-down socks, you’d have to rip out the whole thing.

the more you knooooooooow!

The kiri shawl is coming along slowly but surely…when I work on it.

kiri shawl progress

I’ll have both projects with me on Sunday, when once again we welcome the Yarn Harlot to Atlanta. I am already prepared.

ready for sunday

Woohoo!!!! It’s going to be fun! Grace is driving in from Birmingham, which is always trouble. And we already have a reservation starting that morning for American Roadhouse, where there will be a large group of us knitters eating, drinking, knitting, and generally freaking out the population of the virginia-highlands area. I imagine that this will be happening at many restaurants in the area on sunday (both Atkin’s Park and Neighbor’s will be offering “show us your knitting!” specials, for anyone who’s interested). And according to rumor, the AJC will be there to document the giant line of knitters wrapping around the block waiting to get in to the theater. Last time, we pretty much stopped traffic.

And with that, I leave you to your friday festivities.

Sadie says “relax.”

leave me alone!

I noticed the TwitThis bookmarklet isn’t working at all. Do you know anything about that?

  2. 2 ESC

not sure - it was preventing my page from loading, so I did a search on the script that it was getting stuck on, and twitthis was the culprit. I learned that it was hosted on amazon c3, and causing loading issues on other people sites. so off it goes! it’s a shame, though, because it was a handy little thing.

HEY! I am not trouble, I am BIG TROUBLE. Sheesh. Some people. Also, I am tempted to bring my Kiri shawl to knit on also just to be a huge dork and tell people that when I grow up, I want to be just like ESC.

I was listening to that TAL episode earlier in the week while I was cleaning house. My husband came up to me later and asked “Why were you stomping around shouting ‘VILLAINS! They’re VILLAINS!’ earlier today?”

This administration has messed up this country big time.

Oh, and your shawl and socks look great. Have fun seeing the Harlot. I won’t be there this time — I’m spinning at Stone Mtn. both weekend days. I’ll be a tired gal Sunday night.

I AM TRYING TO RELAX!!! Having said that, when you return from your knitting soiree, you will be full of ideas and won’t want to wait to get started. Hope you have a blast!
