get out the knitting!
9November 4th, 2008craftiness, daily, photos, politicsSo yes! We bought a sink. This sink. One of the back corners is broken off, and instead of paying over $300, we paid about $130. And we will use ceramic glue and sealer to glue that little back corner on and put a bottle of hand soap on it and NO ONE WILL EVER NOTICE.
We are the savy consumers, yes?
Except now we are TOTALLY COMMITTED to doing this kitchen remodel. Either that or we carry around a 130lb sink with us for the rest of our lives. No thanks.
Walking around Ikea did have one nasty side effect: a blister on my heel. Waaah!
epsom salts: my favorite home remedy
While my foot soaks, I occupy my brain and my fingers, because otherwise I will go CRAZY NUTS over anticipation of election day. MUST PREVENT PRE-ELECTION MELTDOWN!!!
It’s a Felicity hat, knit out of a tiny bit over a half a skein of Shepherd’s wool, knit on needles one size up but still a little on the small side. I purposely knit tighter than I usually do because I was afraid they’d turn out too big (gauge swatch? what gauge swatch?). I plan on making a couple more as quick and easy christmas gifts (shut up, I can change my mind about knitting christmas gifts!), and maybe I’ll make another stripey one using the leftover colors for me! This one may go to a kid…if only I knew a little girl who would appreciate one…hmmmmm…
GO VOTE TOMORROW, PEOPLE!!! I don’t even care who you vote for. Mickey Mouse! Bugs Bunny! Bob Barr! Any fictional character who doesn’t stand a chance! *heh* Just vote.
BUT before you vote, ask yourselves if you want to vote for someone who has done everything he could to inspire hope and change with his campaign…or vote for someone who has based his entire campaign on negativity and fear. If your candidate has filled you with TERROR AND DREAD over the possibility of the other guy winning, then maybe you need to consider a different candidate. This is an election between two good men with different ideas. Not an election between WARRING ISLAND CANNIBAL TRIBES. Let’s all keep things in perspective, mkay? Vote with your eyes closed and your EARS OPEN.
That’s all I ask.

I like how the sink requires assembly. Because that’s what one totally expects for a SINK.

Hey! I voted for Bob Barr and he’s real and has a mustache and everything! I’m already preparing myself for the possibility of Obama losing SC by one vote, but I think I’m safe. I voted against fear, corporate media and influence! Hooray 3rd party candidates!

I voted! I’m hoping!

But if I vote with my eyes closed I’m just going to scribble all over the ballot!
(Already voted by mail, and did not scribble all over the ballot. The Husband, however, did manage to accidentally vote for the wrong guy in our congressional race…missed the bubble and voted for a third-party candidate. D’oh!) -
