ikea plants
7Kev has a new hobby - houseplants! Hey, at least it gets him away from the computer. well, at least until he has to look up the name of one of them.
this one is mine - an elephant palm:
Her name is Pippi
these are Kev’s - he went with the smaller, unknown variety so he could spend hours trying to figure out what they were.
on the left, mother-in-law’s tongue. on the right…errr…I forget.
Along with an aloe plant, and a splitting in half and repotting of palm plant I already had, this place is looking pretty green!

*sigh* I wish I had enough light in my house to grown plants.

Looks like it might be a rubber plant.
I’m an expert at killing house plants, hopefully a baby will be easier because it lets you know when it’s hungry.

So far, I’ve managed to keep 2 aloe plants and one jade plant alive in my office. Mostly because they don’t mind neglect.
But when I was a kid I had quite a few spider ferns. Otherwise, I’m not so good with plants.

I tend to kill plants with neglect as well. This is why I won’t mind if this becomes a huge obsession with Kev. HE can do all the work, I and will sit back and enjoy the pretty greenery.

The only houseplant I usually have is an aloe vera–comes in handy around the house sometimes.

I used to have an elephant palm. (also called a pony tail palm) his name was Elvis, and I got him in 1977. (the year Elvis died) When I bought it, it was so small it didn’t even have a bulbous base yet) He went to college with me, and to California and back. (I had to shake off all the dirt and hide him under the seat. California is real picky about letting you bring any kind of vegetable matter across state lines) Three years ago we moved to a new house, and he was left outside. I didn’t discover him until after we had several days of sub-freezing temperatures. I miss Elvis.
