The other bit of excitment going on right now is that I’m considering a new (additional) job opportunity.  Because every little bit helps, right?  I thought about what I could do to bring in a little extra cash – what are my talents?  Where are my strengths?

Well, I did like working in sales – it was just the whole RETAIL HELLHOLE OF DOOOOOM! part that really brought me down.

I’m chatty.  Really, I am!  You can’t shut me up most days!

I like to cook.  *glances at waistline* a LOT.

I like to entertain…but not to CLEAN.

Sooo…what does all this point to?

Why, a Pampered Chef sales rep, of course!

So I’m considering it.  I just sent out a mass email to my local friends (hi!  sorry!) to judge interest.  Though if you are local and did NOT get an email, it’s because I’m a dork.  Let me know if you’re interested.  Basically, I’m asking two questions:

1. Would you be interested in potentially hosting a Pampered Chef party?
2. If you couldn’t host a party, would you be interested in attending one?

All theoretical, of course.  Because if I get a big HELL NO response from everyone, I can drop this right now, before I’ve invested the money in the starter kit.

So that’s kind of exciting, right?  Surely I will keep you all update on this empowering foray into SELF-EMPLOYMENT…all while under the safety of a full time job with a decent paycheck, of course 

I know I’m hoping to go out for Italian. Otherwise, you’re trying to think of ways to make thanksgiving leftovers look like something else entirely. Because that fridge full of food is not going to eat itself.

cranberry smoothies – use up that leftover cranberry sauce (caution: I haven’t actually tried this)

turkey devonshire – open faced turkey sandwich, topped with bacon and cheese sauce, bake until bubbly. ignore that message from your cardiologist

everything all at once pie – chop up the turky and mix with stuffing, green beans, other veggies and gravy. Pour into a casserole dish. mix leftover mashed potatoes (HAHAHAHAHA! WHO HAS THIS???) with some milk or cream and whatever shredded cheese you have in the fridge. smooth over turkey mix. bake until golden brown

OK, I’m going to steal an idea from Jen, because she started talking about it last weekend at SAFF and it’s become a little thought worm that’s worked it’s way into my brain and now I’m kind of obsessing about it.

What colors do you see me as? Meaning, when you think of me, as I know you do, admit it, do you associate any colors with me? What colors do you think of for yourself? Ask around the office, or significant others – what colors do they associate with you, and do they agree with what you thought? I’m not sure what you can tell by the results. I’m just curious. It would be interesting if what others thought of you, and what you thought of yourself agreed most of the time. I’m sure there is already some kind of hippie aura reading kind of thing to tell you what your “colors” are and what that means and what kind of mate would be right for you because of it. But let’s not go there. Close your eyes. Think of yourself. Or me. Or someone else. And what colors are there? Simple as that.

Have at it, folks. This is all I can handle right now. Still recovering from the weekend…literally. Still no voice, though I’ve upgraded from an 80 year old jazz singer with a 3 pack a day habit to a 70 year old one with a 2 pack a day habit. It’s improvement!

Now switch to IE. What the hell?

Now, I’ve noticed this in my own blog (those of you using IE may be surprised to learn that I have a pretty tiled image as my background. now don’t you wish you used FF?) and actually in Aimee’s current template, and it’s never really bothered me, as those background image elements weren’t a big design feature. But now, those pictures are really the ONLY design element, and since Aimee uses IE at work, and also the vast majority of people still use *gag* IE at home. I need this to work! I have tried several tricks I’ve found online, and nothing works.

Here is what I’m working with in the body:

It seems as if putting a color as a background along with a URL in there confuses IE, so I’ve taken out the color (#FFFFFF). Fine in FF, no change in IE.

I’ve added display: inline; after the background. No change

I’ve added image-size: 1%;, no change.

I’ve separated out the url and color, to background-image and background-color. Doesn’t help in IE, and breaks it in FF.

Does anyone have any advice here? This was supposed to be A QUICK DESIGN!!!!

Then you whip that up, but you keep going around the sink, because, well, it’s a little…ok, alot dirty, so just push all that stuff to once side and crap. Something gets knocked off. You should really go through all the crap on the counter, throw away the empty bottles of scented crap and wet loose bandaids packs that fell out of the box and cotton balls and crap. And then, well…you might as well organize that basket you put brushes and the hairdryer and other crap in, throw away that scrunchie, as you haven’t had long hair since 1998, toss the half empy bottles of travel sized miscellany…

Before you know it, you’re scrubbing down the bathroom, STILL naked, and now very sweaty. But you end up with a very nice clean bathroom (errr, except for the floor – maybe your back hurts too bad to really get down on your hands and knees with a scrub brush. maybe next week), and then you shower, and YOU’RE clean, and everything is clean and ALL IS RIGHT WITH THE WORLD!

Except you just cleaned your bathroom nekkid, and you wonder…is that weird?
