so for anyone who tried to access my blog today and instead got some weird download message…well, sorry about that. Hosting thing.
WHAT I DID ON MY TUESDAY, DEC 18
I blocked some lace! It’s my first ever lace shawl! It turned out so pretty!!!
But I don’t get to keep it.
But it’s going to my mother in law and I KNOW she’ll love it. so yay!
Lace always looks like crap before blocking:
kind of…”eh” and wrinkly. And small.
But DURING blocking…
and afterwards…
Ooooooooo! pretty! This pattern was very simple for a first big lace project. I HIGHLY recommend it. And I also recommend, that if you’re intimidated by knitting lace, try it with some other yarn besides laceweight. I used Brooks Farm’s Duet, and I modified the pattern since I only had 500 yards of it.
I also did some baking.
Pumpkin biscotti
Mint chocolate cookies
Also, what will become chocolate truffles are solidifying in the fridge. Tomorrow is macaroons and maybe chocolate biscotti – I’ve never made biscotti before and it is UNBELIEVABLY easy.
My home smells like warm chocolatey things and it is lovely.

The shawl is beautiful!! Which pattern did you use again?
I wonder if Jedi mind tricks work over the internet?
“You will send me those mint chocolate cookies.”
Anything? Yes? Are you on your way to the post office yet?
Hey, I saw that shawl in it’s infant stage and now that it’s all grown up it IS beautiful. I’m sure your MIL will love it.
Home made biscotti….OMG
Have a wonderful holiday!
*Phyllis*
Beautiful shawl and send some of that biscotti over here!! YUMMY!
Ha, I already have that shawl in my Ravelry queue! Glad to hear it works out well. Yours looks lovely!
And get away from me with those cookies. Mmmmmm…. coookies….
Grace – the pattern is linked in the post. and I AM going to the post office today…but not to send you cookies. sorry. these cookies are slated for a different purpose!
Phyllis – the biscottie was easy! you should make some!
Brittany – are you going to be at Knitch on sunday?
Janice – I didn’t do the whole pattern, so your will come out different. I just kept doing repeats of the second chart until…I decided to be done. I could have done maybe ONE more leaf motif repeat….but no. I was done. DONE!!!!
Hi! I’m an idiot. I totally missed the link. Thanks!
Hmm, so only partial Jedi mind trick working-ness (new word). Damn.
I love how lace magically becomes beautiful during the blocking. It’s awesome. Great job on the shawl!
That’s absolutely gorgeous! Now I’m intimidated tho–dunno if I’m up for that one yet.
Oh, your shawl is fabulous!! What a lovely gift, too. Have a wonderful Christmas.
I love baking. I love the smell baking gives the house (and the heat!). I love eating baked things. I hate cleaning up afterwords. When you find away around that let me know.
Biscotti is easy?!?!?! I’m sold! That sounds like a good Christmas Day activity.
The shawl is gawgusss!!!! I know she’ll love it. Now, send me biscotti and no one will get hurt!
