so enough of the ranting. Our internet connection is back up. Even though Bad Behavior and Spam Karma both did strange things to my blog, so far deactivating them hasn’t resulted in a deluge of spam. Yet.
So on to more fun things!
Tonight was my birthday dinner. Kev took me to Pomodoro, a small Italian restaurant in the VA Highlands area. It was very not at all crowded, which is a shame, because the food was TASTY! We started with an antipasta platter of veggies, prosciutto, salami, cheese, and olives. Mmmm! I had the veal parmasean (yeah yeah, I know…baby cow…cruelty…very bad…whatever. It’s mah birthday, I eat veal MAYBE once a year. Shut up.) and Kev had breaded tilapia in a buttery caper tomato sauce. For dessert, he had the bread pudding with vermont maple syrup – SO GOOD! I had a giant slab of tiramisu and a cappuccino. I couldn’t finish my meal OR my dessert, which means I get leftovers tomorrow. YUM! I wish this place would get popular, because the food is so good, and the service was so friendly. Unfortunately, it’s in an area of the Highlands that has a high restaurant turnover, so it doesn’t bode well.
Also accomplished today, I got the bulk of the christmas decorating done. Finally! I was beginning to think I’d drag it out another week or…you know. Until March.
The mantel is decorated and the stockings are hung
by the chimney with care…
And the tree is finally festive, with 350 brand new FUNCTIONING lights (grrrr) from Target:
Just in time for it to shoot up into the 70s this weekend. Oy.
Ho ho ho! Merry Christmas! You will never be able to put away your summer clothes, and your bedroom will be a mess forever! Ho ho ho!

Ho, ho, happy birthday!
I got out my prelit this year (it didn’t go up last year because of the arm) it was a mess. I just threw it out.
I could have gone so many places with the Ho Ho, but it is your birthday. I have to remember to be nice from time to time.
I’m envious. My wee little 12″ (yes, inch) tall tree doesn’t work. The battery compartment the lights run are is corroded. No tree for me yet. *sigh*
I don’t think we’re going to put up a tree but maybe some lights… I do love yours tho.
Did you git yer goodies yet? I didn’t hear, so I assumed all is fine?
YAY SEVENTIES!!!!!!!!!! Beautiful decorations!!!
Did you get the LED lights?
And what IS up with the weather? It went from being barely in the 50s during the week to me wearing flip flops and tank tops all weekend.
grace – LED lights were cost prohibitive. $15 for 60 little lights? I don’t think so. I crossed my fingers and got the regular kind, and they’re working out great.
Brittany – BOOO! I NEED COLD WEATHER!!!
PW – YES! I got them week before last. THANK YOU! mmmm…*sniff!*
TG – get a real tree! your place will smell pine fresh!
Stacey – ho ho right back atcha, babe
Global warming! This weather is crazy. I think the weather will just get more and more random as the globe warms.
That place sounds delicious! Happy Birthday Dinner!
