my fingers…they bleed

Last week I finally finished with the knit and felting portions of my my evilchick bag, so all that was left was to line it with fabric and attach handles or straps of some sort. I perused my own limited fabric collection. While I do have some very nice fabrics, I didn’t have any that that were awesome enough for my awesome bag. Off to the fabric store with me. I wandered among the piles of fabric searching for that one pattern that would speak to me. That would say “ESC, I am awesome. And also? I am on sale.”

I found exactly what I needed and oh yes, awesome and also 40% off. Oh yes. It didn’t really match the colors of my bag, but the sheer fabulousness of the pattern more than makes up for it.

Sewing the lining was a HUGE pain in the ass. Though I have to say this is the first knit bag I have ever lined – with sewn bags you just cut the lining out along with the outside. So you KNOW that the pieces will all fit. With this bag, and its odd shape, it was difficult to cut the pieces of fabric so they came out just right. Then after sewing the lining together, I had to fit it into the bag. I found the easiest thing to do was to turn everything inside out and pin the lining onto the outside of the bag. Lots of pins. Lots and lots of pins. Jabbing into my fingers. Oh my, it is painful. And then I had to hand sew the lining into the bag. It took…5 hours. Yeah. But it’s done! And I LOVE IT!

What is that pattern you ask? Look closely…is it…some kind of paisley? Flowers??
