At the stitch n bitch, sitting at the “cool” table with Jen, Claudia, Melissa, and Chickengoddess (oh my god, did I not get her real name? I later implied she was lumpy and I DIDN’T GET HER NAME!!! crap). Conversation turned to blogging and trolls.
ESC: I never get trolls or controversy on my blog
Jen: ahem. banana. sandwiches.
ESC: OK, yes, banana sandwiches.
Claudia: Oh, I love banana sandwiches! I eat mine with mayo.
ESC: Gross, Claudia. you and my husband both! Actually, I was thinking about doing another post like that, only with oatmeal. Kev likes his with plain sugar and BUTTER! Ew! I am all for brown sugar and cinnamon with milk.
general murmuring about oatmeal preferences, when…
Claudia: I like my oatmeal with ketchup.
ESC: what???
Jen: is that a german thing? or a YOU thing?
Claudia: just me. Sometimes I like to sprinkle parmesean cheese on it, too.
ESC: no WAY! Gross!
Claudia: it’s good!
Everyone: …
ESC: OK, you win.

I eat my oatmeal with other people’s mouths. Oatmeal=yuck. The ketchup & parmesean thing has to be the weirdest food combo I ever heard someone admit to and my brother used to eat ketchup and american cheese sandwiches.
Does she put ketchup on everything? If it’s just oatmeal, that is incredibly strange.
What is the big difference between plain sugar and butter and brown sugar and milk? I like mine with butter, brown sugar, milk if it needs it and some raisins. Cinnamon sounds good too. Any dried fruit will work really.
**Shudder** That’s gnasty. I hate ketchup.
I like mine with raw sugar and a bit of milk. But if there’s no milk, a pat of butter will do fine. And if there’s no raw sugar or brown sugar, white sugar will suffice. And raisins. Yum. (I also only like Irish style oatmeal though. God, it’s hard to be this picky!)
HA!!!
I know _your_ name. That’s what you get for callin me lumpy!
~:>
HA – you guys… You are just jealous that you are not as brave as me and want to try these food combinations. They are really good.
And yes, I put ketchup on a lot of things. Now, I shutter about the butter…
Greetings from the lumpy heifer! Chickengoddess – you only got called lumpy – I am also a heifer for taking the last parking spot from Melissa… Hehehe…
[...] lumpy, I’m sure she meant it with love. The kind of love normally reserved for oatmeal with ketchup and parmesean. But this morning, I finished the second [...]
When my mom first moved to the States, she put ketchup on everything, too. Some of the things I remember her mentioning were cereal and pancakes. And the cereal? It was not dry.
My mom used to eat a combination of cooked flour, milk, cinnamon and sugar. It had a Germanic-sounding name that sounded like Grout.
Funny, that shit looked like grout too and I wasn’t ever tasting it to find out if the resemblance went deeper.
Actually, I am pretty snobby about my oatmeal. I love the McCann’s oatmeal you have to soak and cook. After I tried those, all other oatmeals are like eating drywall mud. If I use white sugar, I need butter and milk. If I use brown sugar, that’s all I need. I like my oatmeal…….
Lumpy!
And FYI, you will never live down the lumpy comment.
Never.
