More cleaning to distract. Now I have piles of old costco boxes full of newpapers and misc junk ready to be taken out to the dumpster neatly arranged in difficult to maneuver around places. Once they are gone, some vacuuming and making of the guest bed, and I’m done. Whew. The MiL arrives tomorrow “probably afternoon.” Oh great. I know Kev’s family. They live 5 hours away. The day before the wedding, I told them that the absolute earliest they could check into their hotel rooms was at 1:00. What time did they arrive? 11am. Holy crap. I need more time than that tomorrow. Let’s hope she stops to do some sightseeing, or something.
As always, when I need to keep busy, I resort to food and food related things. There’s lots of gorgeous fresh fruit out at the moment, and I wanted to do something to preserve that yumminess. Making fruit preserves is not my thing – I don’t have the room or the equipment for canning. But I can preserve the sweetness of summer in…
BOOZE!
I picked up some inexpensive vodka and brandy, and a flat of mason jars, and went to town. So very easy. The biggest pain was pitting the cherries. I have cherry, apricot, blackberry, and blueberry vodkas, and cherry, apricot, and blackberry brandy. I’ll let them sit like this for a month, then strain and re-jar, and age them for another couple months. And then voila! Christmas presents! Who wouldn’t like a taste of summer cherries during the cold winter months?
All of this done just in time for my teetotaler MiL’s visit, so she will be full well aware what total lushes we are.

Hmm… It sounds good. Sounds good. I might start to imbibe heavily. The vicodin isn’t cutting it for my lacerated left foot.
Yum!!!!
Plums vodka sugar occasional shaking of jar = YUM = one sip will put you on your bum.

I love being Slovak.
Always you with the booze…wasn’t it extra drunken tiramisu not too long ago?
I admire the pretty jars. What will you do with the fruit once you’ve strained the vodka & brandy into bottles?
